Miniature Marine Pollution

This piece was a miniature commission, to commemorate someone going plastic free. It is based around marine pollution and a journey is shown around the vase, a timeline from the past, through the present and into the future. It starts with jellyfish swimming in clear, spacious waters, showing how beautiful and unaffected the oceans used to be. Turning the vase begins to show bits of plastic floating in the water, becoming more and more crowded, until it is difficult to distinguish between the jellyfish and rubbish. This represents the current state of the oceans, as well as simulating the difficulty marine life has in telling the difference between food and a potentially life threatening piece of plastic. The water then clears of plastic again, showing a hopeful future that can be achieved if we all take account of our waste. Working together to make conscious decisions about our actions and curb habits.
